Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Apr 21, 2021 7:00 AM
During my 40 years as a Pediatrician, I learned just how important the first five years of life are critical for brain development. Parents are the teachers need support. Three Rotary Clubs in the Verde Valley of northern Arizona have joined together to sponsor and help fund this early literacy program that sends a free, age appropriate book every month directly to the home of enrolled children from birth until their 5th birthday. We partner with the Arizona Community Foundation, regional libraries, and other literacy initiatives to spread the message about the importance for brain development of talking, singing and "cuddle' reading to babies every day starting at birth - and to have fun doing it! |
