Rotarians understand the importance of our community’s youth. Guided by this understanding the membership established a student of the month recognition program. A program that recognizes achievement, leadership and helps to support high school students in their transition to higher education.
During the months of September through May, high school students are selected by their school’s administration at Millennium High School based upon their:
- Academic Standing
- Extra-curricular Activities
- Community Involvement
- Leadership and Service to Others
- Character
In addition to receiving the award, a family in Samburu County, Kenya will receive a light in a student’s name through Watts of Love (www.wattsoflove.org) Solar lighting allows people to continue daily activities after dark, which directly impacts household income, safety, and overall health. Solar light starts people on the pathway to prosperity-giving light to educate & empower.
