School starts next week. Members of the Goodyear PebbleCreek Rotary club asked Jodi Gunning, Superintendent of Litchfield Elementary School District how the club could help with student needs as the new school year begins. She indicated that there are four Title I elementary schools in the district (Schools in which children from low-income families make up at least 40 percent of enrollment are eligible to use Title I funds for schoolwide programs that serve all children in the school.) "During the year school nurses often need emergency clothing, underwear, flip flops and baby wipes for the children. These are items that the District doesn't supply funds for", Supt. Gunning said. Our club was eager to help. Purchasing, sorting and placing clothes in baskets for delivery took place after a meeting and Rotarian Rich Sitch and President Joan Smith made the rounds to deliver the packages. The smiles and words of appreciation were heartfelt.
