Desert Edge Junior Alissa Pina has been selected the September 2026 Student of the Month for Outstanding Leadership.
Alissa was nominated by her Theatre teacher, Ms. Denise Royal, who shared this narrative:
Alissa has really taken the baton of Leadership over the past year. As a junior, she is the DEHS Thespian Vice-President, Varsity Women's Choir President, and is active as an Academy Ambassador. Alissa was also selected by Arizona Thespians to be a State Leadership Officer (STO) for the 26-27 school year, further putting her skills on the front lines as the STO's are heavily involved in supporting the AZ State Thespian Festival in Nov., plan the Junior Troupe Festival (for middle schools) in April, and run the yearly AZ Thespian Leadership camp in Heber, AZ in July. Alissa exhibits great qualities of a Leader through her excellent communication skills, organization & dedication to creating a welcoming and positive student body at Desert Edge.
